 DAVID AND KAREN HYMAN
Recipients of our Founders Award, they have helped to build and grow Chabad since arriving in Champaign in 2005 from Baltimore. As true friends and supporters, they have generously helped build a thriving Chabad,- and the kitchens, and sukkahs, and support that help Chabad’s mission to enrich student life.
Highly involved in education and scholarship, David writes, publishes, and teaches as a chaired Professor of Law and Medicine at UIUC. Karen works in the College of Engineering for undergraduate programs, as Associate Director of iFoundry.
Parents of four children, and grandparents of one, they are a model of those who give unstintingly of themselves to the common good. |

 JOEL HOLLAND
Recipient of our Young Alumni Leadership Award, Joel became part of the Illini Chabad family as an upperclassman. Since graduating, he has been a tireless and exemplary leader - working with Chabad’s Jewish Illini and Friends (JIF); serving on our Executive Advisory Board; and creating and hosting events.
Working for a residential real estate company, Homescout Realty, since graduation, Joel has found an excellent career to pursue his passions for helping people.
It is so fitting that we honor Joel with the Young Alumni Leadership Award. He is an inspiration to so many others.
